Abstract
Background:The hospital as a health service center must be able to provide good quality service for its patients both individually and plenary which provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency care services. It's just that the condition of the workforce (physical and psychological) is not always as ideal as people think. One of the problems is the imbalance between the availability of health workers and the workload. Excessive workload can affect emotions, even the performance of nurses. This study aims to analyze the workload of nurses in the Intensive Care Installation of Muhammadiyah Lamongan Hospital.
Method:This study used a descriptive design with a sample of 19 nurses in the Intensive Care Installation of Muhammadiyah Lamongan Hospital which was determined by total sampling technique. The research instrument used a workload questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive-quantitative analysis techniques.
Results:The results showed that the majority of respondents had a heavy workload of 13 people (68.4%). Furthermore, from this heavy workload, there are a number of activities that are the most burdensome to the work of nurses in the research location, namely: The number of types of work to save patients has a score of 19, and dealing with patients with different characteristics each time has a score of 37.
Conclusion:: The many types of work to save patients and when dealing with patients with different characteristics at any time, are the two things that most burden the work of nurses in research locations.
