PENGGUNAAN MEDIA POCKET BOOK DALAM MENINGKATKAN MAHARAH KALAM SISWA DI SMP ISLAM BANI HASYIM MALANG

This study aims to determine the implementation and effectiveness of using pocket books in improving Arabic speaking skill in students of SMP Islam Bani Hasyim Malang. The research method used is an experiment with a True-Experimental design (One Group Pretest-Posttest Design). The sample consisted of 20 students of class IX B as the experimental group and 20 students of class IX A as the control group. Data were collected through tests (pretest and posttest), observation, and interviews, then data analysis using the T-test and N-gain tests. The application of pocket book media is carried out by giving students teaching materials on pocket book media about professions, then students are formed into several groups to do role plays according to the professions determined by each group. The results of the study showed that the use of pocket books was effective in improving Arabic speaking skills. This was proven by the results of the T-test (significance 0.001
<0.005) and the average N-gain value which showed an increase of 56.3877 (moderate) in the experimental class compared to an increase of 45.9684 (low) in the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that pocket book media can be used as an effective learning tool to improve students' Arabic speaking skill.
