Abstract
SDN 1 Wonocoyo has implemented the Merdeka Curriculum since the beginning of the 2022 academic year. The school introduced a karawitan (traditional Javanese music) extracurricular activity for fifth-grade students in 2022. This extracurricular program was designed to help students become more familiar with and learn karawitan as a form of local culture amid the rapid influence of modern culture. The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly in the global diversity dimension, through the karawitan extracurricular activity at SDN 1 Wonocoyo.
This study employed a qualitative research method using a descriptive approach. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Wonocoyo, focusing on fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through four stages: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation.
The results of the study show that the karawitan extracurricular activity has successfully implemented the Pancasila Student Profile, specifically the key elements of the global diversity dimension. These key elements include: (1) Recognizing and Appreciating Culture, (2) Intercultural Communication, (3) Reflection and Responsibility for Diversity Experiences, and (4) Social Justice. These four key elements were effectively applied to students through karawitan activities. Therefore, the karawitan extracurricular program not only serves as a medium for learning to play the gamelan but also plays a significant role in fostering open-mindedness, tolerance, and awareness of cultural diversity in daily life.
