Abstract
The research in this thesis is motivated by the phenomenon of mathematics learning in elementary schools (SD) which is a subject that is not liked by students because students feel bored with mathematics lessons because they are confused about starting to solve problems and have difficulty applying formulas to the context of the problem. Students' opinions consider mathematics as a difficult subject, not easy to learn, boring, so that feelings of dislike and even hatred for mathematics arise.
Based on the results of observations, it shows that the learning outcomes of students of SD Negeri 1 Sumberagung Ngantang, Malang Regency, especially in the field of simple spatial geometry mathematics, class V, need efforts to improve learning outcomes in the field of mathematics through the use of simple spatial geometry teaching aids.
This study uses a qualitative method and the type of research carried out is classroom action research. As a data source, 27 students of class V of SD Negeri 1 Sumberagung, Ngantang District, Malang Regency, were selected for the 2023/2024 academic year.
This research was conducted from May to June 2024 in two stages, namely the pre-action stage and the action stage. The pre-action stage is carried out by collecting data on teacher learning outcomes, while the action stage is carried out by researchers in two cycles.
The results of the study showed that the use of simple spatial props can improve student learning outcomes. The increase in the average value of students starting from the pre-action stage was 67.78; increased to 75.56 in cycle I and then to 85 in cycle II. The level of student completion in the pre-action stage was initially only 59.26%; increased to 70.37% in cycle I and increased again to 93%, and the quality of the education process also increased.
