Abstract

Communication is a fundamental aspect of human life and is present in every aspect of social activity. Film is one effective medium of mass communication in conveying messages to the public. Films are not only reflections but also representations of social realities shaped by ideology, norms, and societal culture. This study aims to analyze the representation of violence against children in Stephen King's film *IT Chapter Two* using Roland Barthes's semiotic approach. Violence against children encompasses various forms, including physical, psychological, verbal, and sexual, and is often portrayed in the media as a reflection of social problems. *IT Chapter Two* depicts various forms of violence, packaged through powerful visual and narrative techniques, as well as meaningful cultural symbols. This study uses qualitative methods with semiotic analysis techniques to identify signs of violence and interpret their meanings, reaching the level of myth as developed by Barthes. The results of this study are expected to uncover important messages regarding the issue of violence against children and contribute to public awareness in recognizing and preventing similar violence in the real world.
