Abstract
This study aimed to determine the application and effectiveness of using task-based learning methods. The type of research method used in this study is the pre-experimental design method, which is a method that affects external variables and dependent variables, because there are no control variables and the sample is not randomly selected. With the form of a one-shot case study, which is the treatment given to a group and the results are observed. The study was conducted with a total population of 21 students. The data collection method used is in the form of interviews, written tests (pre-test and post-test). The data analysis methods used by researchers are normality tests, paired t tests and effectiveness tests. The learning process using the task-based learning method consists of three stages, namely: pre-task task cycle and language focus. Pre task is to introduce material to students, task cycle is assignment to students, and language focus is to analyze the results of discussions from student group assignments. The results of the research that have been applied show the results of the score on the post test with an average of 73.81 > an average pretest score of 55.71 and t test results of 0.000 < probability of 0.05. The conclusion of the research results is that the use of task-based learning methods is effective in improving student maharah kitabah.
