Abstract
Arabic reading skills (maharah al-qiro'ah) are no less important than other
language skills. Reading skills are one of the skills that students must have to develop
Arabic language skills. So, there is a need for the role of game media in learning to
support learning activities so that students are more skilled and fluent in understanding
reading and can develop Arabic reading skills. This research aims to find out how the
application and effectiveness of the Wheel of Question game media in Arabic language
learning improve reading skills during learning. This research uses a quantitative
approach with an experimental type with subjects of 28 class VIII students at SMP
Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. This research design is a pre-experimental design with a
one-group pretest-posttest design type. The methods used for data collection are
observation, interviews and tests. The results of data analysis are presented by
comparing the pre-test and post-test scores (paired sample T-test). The results of this
research are (1) application of the Wheel of Question game media, which in its
implementation is divided into 3 activities, namely: Introduction, core and conclusion.
(2) there is an increase in the results of student learning scores based on pre-test and
post-test scores with a sig value of 0.001 < 0.05 and based on the results of the N-Gain
test with a score of 56.79% which is included in the medium category. Therefore, the
application of the Wheel of Question game media can be said to be effective in
improving Arabic reading skills, where the students' average score during the pre-test
was 63.21 and during the post-test the score increased by 84.11.
