Abstract
Education has an important role in building quality Human Resources (HR), both intellectually and character-wise. Intellectually, one of the abilities that is needed and needs to be trained in the 21st century era is students' high-level cognitive abilities. The phenomenon or problem that exists at SMPN 01 Pronojiwo school is related to students' high level cognitive abilities which still need to be trained. The way to train students' high level cognitive abilities can be done by building learning conditions that give students more time to think, communicate, and carrying out scientific activities so that students can construct knowledge and train students' abilities in analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6). This quantitative research aims to analyze the influence of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model based on a scientific approach on students' high level cognitive abilities. The type of research is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. This research was conducted on class IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Pronojiwo. The data collection instrument used a multiple choice test consisting of 20 questions containing indicators of C4-C6 students' high level cognitive abilities. Data collection was carried out using pre-test and post-test. The test used to analyze high-level cognitive ability data is the one-way ancova test. The research results indicate that the cooperative Think Pair Share (TPS) model based on a scientific approach has a significant effect on students' high-level cognitive abilities (Sig = 0.000).
