Abstract

Background: Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) is one of the most common infections in health care caused by several risk factors. This study aims to analyze the risk factors that trigger CAUTI.
Research Method: This research was designed using a cross sectional approach with descriptive research methods. This research was conducted from May to June 2024 involving 47 patients who had catheters installed and were treated at Wava Husada Kepanjen Hospital as samples. The research instrument used an adopted urinary tract infection observation sheet.
Research Results: The results of the study showed that there was no effect (p> 0.1) between age (p = 0.112) and gender (p = 0.154> 0.1) on the occurrence of urinary tract infections, then
disease history (p = 0.027 < 0.1) shows that there is an influence of the patient's disease history on urinary tract infections with a catheter, and the duration of catheter placement (p = 0.029 < 0.1) is a significant factor related to urinary tract infections, and patient care with a catheter is shown with 74.5% of patients experiencing UTI.
Conclusion: Urinary tract infections are influenced by various factors, and this can be controlled by understanding these factors so that appropriate interventions can be carried out to prevent infections and improve the quality of nursing services. Recommendations Further research needs to be carried out to identify other factors that may contribute to the incidence of UTI in patients with catheters, as well as to develop more effective prevention strategies.
