Abstract
Background: Nursing is a profession that has a high workload. Nurse workload is all the activities and activities carried out by nurses while carrying out their duties in the health service unit. It is very important to know the workload of nurses so that nurses can know the capacity of work carried out. This is done to create a balance between nursing staff and nursing burden. This research aims to identify factors that influence nurses' workload.
Research Method: This research design is descriptive. The sample in this study was 27 nurses in Malang City. The sampling technique used in this research is accidental sampling. The inclusion criteria in this study were being a nurse and being willing to be a respondent. The exclusion criteria in this study were being on leave.
Research Results: The results of this research conducted on 27 respondents showed that of the 13 question items related to nurses' workload, there were 11 questions that were heavy workloads and 2 questions were moderate workloads.
Conclusion: The level of workload for nurses is very high due to several factors, including: very close client observation, a lot of work that must be done, various types of work that must be done, continuous direct contact between nurses and patients, a lack of nursing staff compared to patients critical, abilities and skills possessed are not able to keep up with the difficulty of work, hospital leadership's expectations for quality services, family demands for client safety, every time faced with the right decision, responsibility in carrying out client care, dealing with clients with the characteristics of being helpless or in a coma or terminal.
