Abstract

Learning media is a tool for conveying messages and has the ability to stimulate the thoughts, feelings, and desires of learners to encourage self-learning. Researchers developed learning media oriented toward the unique batik culture of Malang to make learners more enthusiastic about learning and to easily recognize culture through the diversity of batik in the city of Malang, focusing on the unique batik patterns of Malang.
The model used in the development of educational media here employs the PjBL syntax, which focuses on project-based work. The method used in this research on the development of educational media oriented toward the unique batik culture of Malang utilizes Borg and Gall's 2007 R&D framework, with steps modified to suit the researcher's needs. In this development, the researcher required seven steps: Development Study, Planning, Developing the Initial Product, Expert Validation, Small-Scale Testing, Large-Scale Testing, and Final Product.
The research results at the initial media validation stage showed that the design of the media used had a 96% validity rate, meeting the criteria for high validity. This was followed by content validation, which showed an 85% validity rate, meeting the criteria for validity. After that, the media was ready to be used by students, with a 98% response rate from students when using the media.
The results of this study suggest that the development of learning media oriented toward the unique batik culture of Malang should be used as a reference in the development of teaching programs and tutoring. Given the shortcomings of this media, it is recommended that future researchers create better media.
