Abstract
The purpose of this study is to improve the listening ability of grade XI IPA MA Muhammadiyah 1 Plus Malang students. The method used in this study is a quasi- experimental method. The data analysis methods used are descriptive analysis, construct validity test, reliability test, normality test, and paired t-test. The population used in this study amounted to 38, namely class XI Science with 23 students as an experimental class and class XI Language with a total of 15 students as a control class. The sample used by the researcher was 15 students of class XI science as an experimental class. The process of applying the Inquiry method takes place with six stages: preparation, providing guiding questions, presenting the material, exploration of research by students, presentation of results and discussion and finally reflection and evaluation. The results of the effectiveness test, it appears that the difference in the results of the N-Gain effectiveness test obtained by the two classes, the experimental class is greater than the control class 57.53 > 38.40. Based on this description, it can be concluded that the inquiry method to improve Arabic mahārah istimā' in class XI IPA MA Muhammadiyah 1 Plus Malang is said to be quite effective.
