Abstract
This study aims to analyze research trends on the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping students' character using bibliometric analysis. Publication data were collected from the Scopus database for the period 2020–2024. The search was conducted using the keywords “Islamic AND education AND character AND student” and filtered for journal articles in Indonesian and English. A total of 41 selected articles were analyzed using VOSviewer software to map research trends through network, overlay, and density visualizations. The results indicate a significant increase in the number of related publications, particularly in 2024. The most frequently discussed themes include Islamic boarding schools, inclusive schools, curriculum studies, higher education, and character education . Meanwhile, topics such as insan kamil, madrasah, tolerance, and character values remain underexplored. This study reveals that research interest in the role of Islamic Religious Education in shap ing students' character continues to grow. However, several areas require further exploration, particularly in integrating Islamic education with modern character development approaches. The findings of this study can serve as a guide for future research and character education policies in Indonesia.
