Abstract

Learning media is something that a teacher must use in learning activities. The use of concrete learning media is very important because it can help teachers in explaining real learning concepts in implementing learning activities in the classroom. This research aims to find out: (1) To find out the application of word card media in reading Javanese script in class V students at SD Negeri Ketitang Wetan 02, Batangan District, Pati Regency, (2) To find out the increase in learning outcomes using word card media in reading Javanese alphabet.
The research and development carried out by the author is conducting Classroom Action Research using Word Card Media in learning to read Javanese script, where PTK uses several stages of activities, namely: Planning, action, reflection. This research is carried out every Friday according to the Javanese language subject schedule at SD N 02 Ketitang Wetan, Batangan District, Pati Regency. Before carrying out this research, the researcher first carried out a validation test to determine the suitability of the media for use.
This word card media is made using paper printed with Javanese script which is given to students to use to compose Javanese script words and Javanese sentences correctly.
The results of the research indicated that there was a significant increase from several cycles carried out by researchers, where before the action research was carried out, class completeness was 21.42% with an average class completeness of 61.43, which was not yet completed according to the success indicator of 85%. After the first cycle was carried out, there was an increase of 64.29% and the average classical completion was 74.57, still not complete, in accordance with the success indicator of 85%. Because the researchers carried out cycle II with the results experiencing an increase of 92.86% and the average classical completeness was 81.43. Thus it can be concluded that using word card media can improve the learning outcomes of reading Javanese script for students at SD Negeri 02 Ketitang Wetan, Batangan District, Pati Regency.
