Abstract

Question types are the various types of questions found on the question sheet or practice question book. The type of questions can be viewed from the student's cognitive perspective. This type includes LOTS, MOTS, and HOTS questions. Based on this explanation, the formulation of the problem in this research is (1) how the types of questions are viewed from a cognitive perspective in the accompanying textbook for Indonesian language students in class IX SMP published by Intan Pariwara, (2) how is the distribution of question types viewed from a cognitive perspective in companion textbook for Indonesian language students in class IX SMP, published by Intan Pariwara, and (3) How does the cognitive domain of the HOTS questions compare in each practice question package in the companion textbook for Indonesian language students in class IX, SMP published by Intan Pariwara.
The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data source in this research is the accompanying textbook for Indonesian language students in class IX SMP, published by Intan Pariwara, taking into account the LOTS, MOTS, and HOTS question types, and the cognitive domains Ci to C6 in the textbook. The data found was processed through several steps, namely: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) conclusion. This research was carried out through several procedures, namely preparation, implementation, and completion.
From the results of the analysis and discussion, it was found that (1) the use of LOTS, MOTS, and HOTS-based question types was spread across each collection of questions, namely questions on material regarding Trial Report Texts, Persuasive Speech Texts, Short Story Texts, Response Texts, Discussion Texts, and Inspirational Story Text. However, the questions in the Fiction and Non-Fiction Text Book materials only use LOTS and MOTS-based question types, (2) both the questions in the collection of daily assessment questions and the semester assessments in the accompanying textbook for Indonesian language students in class IX SMP, published by Intan Pariwara, both of them do not meet the criteria for writing questions that are balanced in terms of cognitive level starting from C1 (understanding) to C6 (creating), and (3) The comparison between the LOTS, MOTS, and HOTS question types can be seen clearly, that comparison is very far and does not match the criteria for balancing questions with the cognitive domain. The questions in the accompanying textbook for Indonesian language students in class IX SMP published by Intan Pariwara are dominated by the MOTS question type.
