Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the amount of feed consumption and the Average Daily Gain (ADG) in Brahman Cross (BX) cattle in the maintenance of the feedlot system. The material in this study used 30 heads with a type of steer cow with an initial weight of 376-597 kg and a maintenance research period of 30 days. The feeding of the cows is carried out using a comparison according to the maintenance phase of each, namely starter, grower, and finisher. The ratio of concentrated and forage feed was 70% : 30%, 90% : 10%, and 80% : 20% respectively. The use of feed is in accordance with the standard procedure of the feedlot. The research method was carried out using a survey or observation method by observing the performance of BX cows in feedlot cages. The parameter observed in this study is the relationship between the close production of Brahman Cross (BX) cattle and the feed consumption of Brahman Cross (BX) cattle. In this study, what was observed included Daily Body Weight Gain (PBBH), feed consumption and feed conversion. The data analysis in this study was processed statistically. These variables were analyzed using a multiple linear regression test processed using SPSS. Then use Table T to find out the close relationship between variables. The conclusion of this study is that the F test (Sig. = 0.035) is significant, overall feed consumption has a significant correlation with the Average Daily Gain (ADG) in Brahman Cross (BX) cattle. Forage consumption had a more significant negative impact (Sig. = 0.062) than concentrate consumption, which had a positive impact on ADG although it was not statistically significant (Sig. = 0.367). So that the correlation between forage feeding and concentrate on the level of weight gain of Brahman Cross cattle shows a moderate relationship.
