Abstract

Background Lemon extract is a plant in the Citrus family that contains of vitamin C. The
benefits of facial wash gel from lemon extract are overcoming acne, preventing premature
aging, brightening the face, preventing skin hyperpigmentation, and preventing skin
cancer.
Objective To determine the evaluation results of the characteristics test and formulation of
the lemon extract facial wash preparation with variations in gelling agent HPMC with
levels of 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%
Methods This study used an experimental method by making a gel facial wash preparation
formulation of lemon extract (Citrus lemon L.) in the formulation of a gelling agent HPMC
with levels of 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% as a free variable, a test of the characteristics of the gel
facial wash as a bound variable, and a blanko as a control variable.
Results and Conclusions Based on the results of the study found that the difference in
HPMC (0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%) in the facial wash gel of lemon extract (Citrus lemon L.)
obtained that formula II with 1% HPMC content satisfies the requirements of the facial
wash gel characteristic test of the lemon extract (Citrus limon L.) well.
