Abstract

Introduction: The use of contraception among women of childbearing age in Indonesia is sought to build prosperous families, increase family resilience, and maintain the health and safety of mothers, children, and women. This study aims to determine the prevalence and factors associated with intention to use contraception among women of childbearing age in Indonesia.
Method: This study analyzed cross-sectional data from the Seventh Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS-7) in 2019-2020. The sample consisted of 1,042 women aged 15-49 years. A total of thirty factors were analyzed to determine the prevalence and factors influencing the intention to use contraception among women of childbearing age using the chi-square test and logistic regression.
Results: The results of the study showed that among the 31 factors, there were 14 factors that had a significant influence on women of childbearing age who did not use contraception consisting of marital status, age, pattern of contraceptive use, intention to use contraception, wanting the last child, health facilities, information source: TV , Pharmacies, Private midwives, No source, Reasons for not using unmarried, breastfeeding, religious prohibitions.
Conclusion: The factors that most influence the intention to use contraception in women of childbearing age in Indonesia are factors related to contraceptive use and the intention to use contraception. This research provides important insights for the development of more effective family planning programs and focuses on critical factors influencing contraceptive intention and use among women of childbearing age in Indonesia.
