Abstract
Introduction: Sleep is inseparable from human health and life, so sleep is also considered a necessity. It is called the need that sleep plays an important role in the rest process for the organs of the body. The benefits of sleep for adolescents play an important role in increasing brain cells and growth hormone reproduction by about 75% during sleep. Sleep can restore the body after a full day of activity, reduce stress and anxiety, and can improve ability and concentration. There are factors that affect sleep quality including light, physical activity, environment, age, stress, and smartphone use
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep quality in adolescent.
Methods: The design of this study is Observational Analytics with a crosssectional approach involving 138 respondents of grade XI students of SMAN 3 Kota Batu. The data was collected through a questionnaire that measured smartphone addiction and sleep quality.
Results: The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between smartphone addiction and the sleep quality of grade IX students of SMAN 3 Kota Batu with a value of p = 0.034.
Conclusion: the importance of limiting the use of smartphones to create good quality sleep. This research is expected to provide insight for health workers and the public about the importance of limiting the use of smartphones and maintaining sleep patterns so as to create good sleep quality.
