MAKNA SOSIAL PUNDEN MBAH DHARMO (Studi Pada Desa Sukorejo, Kecamatan Bangorejo, Kabupaten Banyuwangi)

This research raises a discussion about the Sialang tradition as an effort in this research to raise a discussion about the social meaning of the Punden Mbah Dharmo for society (Study in Sukorejo Village, Bangorejo District, Banyuwangi Regency). This research usesqualitative approach using phenomenological research type. Determination of subjects in this study using purpovise sampling, with the number of research subjects 5 people who came from Punden caretaker, administrator of the Hindu community of Sukorejo Village, village head and also Sukorejo society. Data collection techniques in this study with observation, interviews, and documentation. This study uses Symbolic Interaction by Herbert Blummer. The results obtained in this study describe Punden Mbah Dharmo with all its traditional and cultural activities transformed into more than just that. Punden Mbah Dharmo becomes a symbol of blessing, peace and prosperity, Punden Mbah Dharmo is also an effort of the community to preserve it through a culture that is easily understood by the general public. Punden Mbah Dharmo functions not only as a place for cultural rituals, but more than that Punden Mbah Dharmo gives birth to new meanings and functions for the surrounding community.
