Abstract

This research aims to understand the meaning of opinions regarding the film Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso, especially for Malang city students. This research uses a qualitative method with Stuart Hall's reception analysis approach. Data was collected by conducting in-depth interviews with 6 Malang city students. The results of the research found differences in the reception of the subjects regarding the films Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso. The meaning of a subject is based on the experience and background of each subject. Of the 6 subjects, the researcher classified students into 2, 3 subjects were in Dominant Hegemonic and 3 subjects were in Oppositional Reading.
