Abstract

Communication barriers are factors that can disrupt the smooth delivery of information between the sender and the receiver. The use of technology in the communication process greatly helps achieve an organization’s goal of conveying information efficiently. PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Martapura uses the Inspekta application as a medium for reporting unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses, and accidents as part of the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (K3). This study aims to identify the communication barriers that occur in the reporting of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) through the Inspekta application by Yantek officers to the K3 Department at PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Martapura.
The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research. The theoretical concept used in this study is based on communication barriers from Wursanto in the book Masmuh (2010) "Organizational Communication in Theory and Practice Perspective."
The results of this study found that communication barriers in the reporting of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) through Inspekta by Yantek officers to the K3 Department at PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Martapura are caused by technical barriers, such as server disruptions, poor signal quality, and employee adaptation to new technology. Behavioral barriers, such as negligence and report delays, hinder real-time reporting and affect the timely follow-up of K3 findings. To address these issues, strategic steps are required, such as direct guidance, the use of simple communication media, regular training, streamlining the reporting process, as well as improving supervision and understanding of procedures. These steps aim to ensure the effectiveness of reporting, accelerate corrective actions, and support the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) at PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Martapura.
