Abstract
Media is currently starting to develop very rapidly. Several conventional media industries such as newspapers, magazines and television are starting to shift to digital platforms. Memo In the midst of increasingly fierce competition, Memo X Newspaper is able to maintain the existence of both print newspapers and digital newspapers. With technological developments, the production process between digital and printed newspapers is experiencing differences. The aim of this research is to determine the comparison of conventional and digital media routines by Memo X Newspaper in Malang, East Java. This research uses the concept from Branston and Stafford in The Media Student's Book relating to the news production process through three stages, namely, pre-production, production and post-production. Furthermore, this research uses case study research with a qualitative approach to obtain more comprehensive information. The research results show that there are differences in media routines between print and digital because digital newspapers require speed in publishing information in real time to readers. On the other hand, printed newspapers take time to convey information to readers, because printed newspapers have to go through a series of processes, including layout and printing.
