Abstract

Background: Nausea in CKD patients undergoing CAPD is caused by various changes in the brain and digestive organs. Increased urea in the brain will cause changes in metabolism in the brain itself. Accumulation of urea will stimulate the Chomoreceptor Trigger Zone (CTZ), then distributed to the nausea center in the medulla oblongata which then stimulates the vomiting center in the brainstem, causing inflammation of the intestinal mucosa and causing nausea. This study was conducted to determine the effect of giving aromatherapy "cajuput oil" on nausea in CAPD peritonitis patients.
Method: This study is a case report with the subject of the study, namely Mr.N (20 years old) with a medical diagnosis of CKD st 5 with CAPD Peritonitis in the Pangandaran Inpatient Room, Dr. Saiful Anwar General Hospital on October 7-12, 2024. Data collection methods were carried out by interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation studies. The level of nausea was measured using the Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) .
Results: The results of the study showed that aromatherapy "cajuput oil" is effective in reducing nausea levels in patients.
Conclusion: Giving aromatherapy with eucalyptus oil is effective in reducing nausea levels in patients with CAPD peritonitis.
