Abstract

Background: Low birth weight (LBW) is a risk factor that contributes to infant mortality. Apart from that, babies with low birth weight are currently still a problem throughout the world because they are the cause of death during the newborn period. To grow a healthy baby, mothers need good nutrition and rest, adequate pregnancy checks and supported by a clean environment. This can help prevent, identify and improve conditions that cause low body weight so that it can encourage the achievement of reducing LBW. The recommended nutrition for LBW is breast milk, because the effects of breastfeeding have short or long term benefits
Research Method: This type of research uses the research design method used is qualitative with a case study approach (Case Study Research). The case study is to explore the problem of nursing care in providing nutritional management interventions to respondents by Mrs. P with low birth weight in the Perinatology Room at RSUMM.
Results: The results obtained after carrying out the intervention for 5 days were an increase in the portion of breast milk but there was no increase in the baby's weight.
Conclusion: Based on case study analysis of nutritional management in LBW babies, there was an increase in the amount of breast milk consumed but there was no significant increase in the baby's weight
