Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of family communication patterns on children's enthusiasm for learning, focusing on students of SMP Negeri 5 Tulungagung. With an explanatory quantitative approach used to measure the relationship between variables through questionnaires distributed to 89 respondents, namely parents of students. The data collected were analyzed using validity, reliability, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing.
The results showed that family communication patterns, particularly the dimensions of conversation orientation and conformity orientation, have a significant impact on children's enthusiasm for learning. The conversation orientation dimension shows a high level of increasing open interactions, supporting children's ideas, and strengthening emotional relationships between family members. Meanwhile, conformity orientation shows a moderate influence on children's adherence to family values and norms.
Children's enthusiasm for learning is also influenced by moral encouragement from parents who pay attention to aspects of children's motivation and persistence in completing tasks. This study highlights the importance of good family communication in creating a supportive learning environment, such as listening to children's opinions, supporting their ideas and maintaining open communication, was shown to increase children's enthusiasm and passion for learning.
This study suggests the importance of parents' role in creating a positive communication environment to promote children's academic success. This study also provides practical contributions for parents and academics to understand the relationship between family communication and the development of children's enthusiasm for learning.
