Abstract
Background: Chronic kidney failure is a progressive disease in which the body is unable to maintain metabolism and elecytolyte balance, resulting in anemia and electrolyte imba;ance. the aim of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between self-efficacy and coping mechanisms in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Wava Husada Kepanjen. Hospital installation.
Research Method: The research design used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach, with a purposive sampling technique of 110 patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Wava Husada Hospital in Kepanjen. Data collection was conducted using the General Perceived Self-Efficacy questionnaire and the Brief COPE (Carver). Data analysis was performed using the non-parametric statistical test, specifically the Spearman Rank correlation test.
Results: The results of the study indicate that the majority of patients undergoing hemodialysis have self-efficacy, with 84 patients (76.4%). Meanwhile, 102 patients (92.7%) showed adaptive coping mechanisms during hemodialysis. The Spearman Rank correlation test results indicate a positive relationship between self-efficacy and coping mechanisms in patients undergoing hemodialysis, with a significance value of 0.001 and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.503, indicating a moderate relationship strength
Conclusion: Patients undergoing hemodialysis with high self-efficacy tend to have a better ability to manage stress, which can enhance adaptive coping mechanisms.
