Abstract

Background: Hypertension in the elderly is a condition in which blood pressure in people who have entered the age of 60 years and over is above normal. Elderly (elderly) is the final stage of life and a natural process that cannot be avoided by every individual. This study is expected to provide the development of a more effective and locally based preventive approach to managing hypertension in rural communities. This study aims to determine the decrease in blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension.
Method: The design of this study used a descriptive case study involving 10 elderly patients, who lived in Banjarejo Village, Malang. researchers used several data collection techniques, namely interviews and questionnaires, and conducted blood pressure checks.
Results: the results of the implementation of nursing case studies in patients with hypertension in Ngamprong Village, Banjarejo, Pakis District, Malang Regency, showed that interventions on knowledge education were effective in increasing the level of knowledge about lowering blood pressure by regulating hypertension diet patterns. For the results after carrying out patient education interventions 1 to 10 showed changes in behavior according to recommendations, knowledge and behavior about the disease they suffered improved through hypertension diet education
