Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of social media in Islamic Religious Education
students, especially students of the class of 2022 at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
Using a case study approach with a qualitative research method, this study analyzed data
obtained from a questionnaire distributed to a number of PAI 2022 students and interviews
with several resource persons who had filled out the questionnaire. Data analysis was carried
out to identify the most popular and used social media platforms, the reasons for using social
media and the purpose of using social media in daily life. The results of the study show that
the majority of social media that is most in demand and used by students is Tiktok. The purpose
of using social media for PAI 2022 students is entertainment, finding information and the latest
news. Short-duration content makes Tiktok a social media platform used by students to seek
Islamic Religious Education learning. The results of this study are expected to provide a clear
picture of the role of social media in the daily lives of Islamic Religious Education students in
the 2022 academic year.
