Abstract
Global political are undergoing a significant transition, driven by advancements in communication technology. Various factors influence the global political landscape, both internal and externally. With the rise of the new media era, the role of media has become substantial as an entity within nations. In international relations, mass media's role in diplomacy between countries is referred to as "track two diplomacy." This research analyzes how international media frame coverage of the 2024 presidential election in Indonesia, focusing on The Washington Post and Al Jazeera. The researcher aims to uncover the framing and interests inherent in these international media entities.
The data collection method employed in this research involves documentation, including news text data and relevant journals education. Using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis method—a research technique that explores how media constructs reality through reporting—this study reveals differences in coverage between Washingtonpost.com and Aljazeera.com during the period of February 11-16 2024. The Washington Post tends to reflect Western values such as liberal democracy and political freedom, often focusing on human rights issues, civil liberties, and critiques of power. At the same time, Al Jazeera presents a more balanced narrative in reporting.
