Abstract
Background: Rectal cancer is a type of cancer that develops at the end of the large intestine that connects to the anus. Symptoms of rectal cancer include rectal bleeding, changes in bowel movements, abdominal pain, and systemic symptoms such as weight loss. This case study aims to apply Virginia Henderson's nursing theory in nursing care for Mr. N with rectal cancer patients at Dr Saiful Anwar Hospital.
Method: The research used a report study method of one patient with rectal cancer using Virginia Henderson's nursing theory approach. Data was collected through interviews, physical examination, observation and documentation studies Results: Based on the results of the assessment, there were three diagnoses in the patient Mr. N, namely: acute pain, diarrhea, hypovolemia. Then the interventions given to the patient are: pain management, diarrhea management, and hypovolemia management with 14 aspects of Virginia Henderson's theoretical approach.
Conclusion: Using Virginia Henderson's nursing theory approach to Mr. N with rectal cancer in the Kerinci ward of RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar for 3 days resulted in significant clinical and psychological improvement, allowing the patient to go home on the fourth day
