Abstract

Learning media is media that can help teachers in the learning process so that students can easily understand the lessons given. Based on the results of interviews and observations conducted at SDN Gadingkulon 01 Dau class 1, students had difficulty combining the letters of the alphabet into words. Based on the needs analysis above, the Wayang Kata Learning Media product in the initial reading skills material was developed so that students can increase students' understanding and learning motivation in the reading skills material for grade I elementary school.
In the research and development of Wayang Kata learning media, researchers used the ADDIE model which has 5 stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis techniques use qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.
The results of the development of the Wayang Kata learning media are based on the results of material expert validation which was taken using a questionnaire sheet and obtained 84% with very good qualifications, media expert validation which was also taken using a questionnaire sheet and obtained 80% with very good qualifications. And based on the results of the responses from class I students, 98% stated that the wayang kata media was suitable for use. So that Wayang Kata media can be used as a supporting tool for elementary school class I Indonesian language learning. However, this media has shortcomings and requires innovation and improvement for future researchers. As a result of this research, it is recommended that the Wayang Kata learning media be used as a reference in developing other learning media that can support successful learning.
