Abstract

It can be managed through non-pharmacological therapies, such as ginger therapy, which has proven effective in lowering blood pressure. This final scientific work presents the case of Mrs. R, who has suffered from hypertension for over five years. Therefore, this final scientific paper aims to describe the nursing care process for Mrs. R with hypertension.
Objective: This final scientific paper aims to determine the effectiveness of giving ginger therapy to the elderly with hypertension.
Method: The research method used in the preparation of this final scientific work is a case study report. The author follows scientific methods according to nursing process guidelines. In the assessment process, various data collection techniques are employed, including anamnesis, observation, documentation studies, and physical examinations to gather data from the patient, Mrs. R.
Results: After providing nursing care, a primary nursing diagnosis of ineffective peripheral perfusion was identified, for which ginger therapy was administered as an intervention. Following this intervention, the patient's blood pressure decreased from 179/93 mmHg to 153/59 mmHg.
Discussion: The actions taken by the village nurse should not stop at pharmacological therapy alone. Non-pharmacological therapies are also necessary, one of which is ginger therapy because ginger has been shown to effectively help lower blood pressure. This is due to ginger's content of gingerol, which functions to close calcium channel voltages in blood vessel cells. When vasoconstriction occurs in blood vessels, the smooth muscle of the arterial wall becomes more flexible, thereby reducing blood pressure.
