Abstract
Background: Carcinoma recti or rectal cancer falls under the category of colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide and can cause severe damage and even death. Inflammatory conditions that occur in patients with certain cancers can cause pain. One of the efforts that can be made to overcome pain is with relaxation techniques. The type of relaxation technique used in this study is deep breath relaxation. This study aims to determine the effect of deep breath relaxation therapy as pain management in patients with carcinoma recti in the semeru room of Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital.
Method: The research method uses case study reports on patients with carcinoma recti according to the rules of the nursing process using data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, documentation, and using VAS instruments. The analysis domain used is data analysis with results that will include nursing problems, nursing interventions, and evaluation of results.
Results: Implementation in the form of deep breath relaxation therapy obtained a decrease in pain levels as measured using the VAS instrument. Where from scale 4 pain decreased after being given deep breath relaxation therapy for 3 days to scale 2.
Discussions: Deep breath relaxation therapy can reduce pain levels by flowing oxygen to the blood and then flowing throughout the body so that it can release endropin hormones which function to minimize pain in the body. The results of the implementation given for 3 days, the patient and the patient's family understand and apply properly and correctly so that there is a significant decrease in pain levels as evidenced by the results of measuring pain levels using a pain measuring instrument, namely VAS.
