Abstract

Background: One of the health challenges facing children is dengue fever (DHF), a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes and found mainly in tropical areas. In Indonesia, the number of DHF cases continues to rise, with 45,387 cases reported in 2022. The health effects of DHF include fever, muscle pain, and the risk of hypovolemic shock due to plasma leakage. Therefore, this scientific paper aims to describe the process of implementing fluid management in children with DHF to overcome hypovolemia.
Method: This study is a case study that is compiled through a series of nursing care including: assessment, data analysis, and nursing interventions, implementation and evaluation. The process of assessment and data collection is carried out using various techniques, including: interviews with patients, observation and documentation. Fluid management carried out in this case is by rehydration D5 ¼ Ns / 24 hours 12 tpm, then given an infusion of 50cc / hour.
Results: After carrying out fluid management nursing interventions with collaborative guidelines or management, fluid needs are met which are characterized by the results of checking vital signs within normal limits, nausea and vomiting are reduced.
Conclusion: After implementing these nursing interventions for 3x24 hours in patient An.C, nursing problems such as hypovolemia as a symptom of DHF can be resolved.
