Abstract

Background: Patients with cholangitis usually have symptoms including fever, pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, and jaundice with an incidence of 50-70% of patients experiencing these symptoms. The laparoscopic method is often used as a minimally invasive approach in the treatment of Cholangitis. However, postoperative pain remains a major challenge. This study aims to analyze the effect of a combination of Deep Breathing and dhikr therapy in reducing pain levels in post-laparoscopy Cholangitis patients. Methods: The study used a qualitative descriptive design with a case study approach at Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital, Malang, in July 2024 for 3 days. The subjects of the study were patients with a diagnosis of Cholangitis who underwent laparoscopy and experienced acute pain, measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document studies, and analyzed using domain analysis. Results: The results of this study showed a significant decrease in the patient's pain scale from 6 on the first day to 1 on the third day after the intervention of a combination of Deep Breathing and dhikr. Patients also experienced improvements in physiological conditions, such as blood pressure and pulse rate. Conclusion: This indicates that this combination of non-pharmacological therapies is effective in reducing pain levels, increasing patient comfort, and supporting postoperative recovery.
