Abstract
Background : Bone cancer, also known as osteosarcoma, is one of the many cancers that are currently highly common in Indonesia. It can have psychological effects, such as making a person feel helpless or causing them to experience excessive anxiety. An other option for lowering anxiety is a non-pharmacological strategy. Lavender aromatherapy is a straightforward, secure, and accessible non-pharmacological treatment.
Methods : This study's design combines qualitative techniques with a case study research approach. Purposive sampling is the method employed, and patients with osteosarcoma are the inclusion criteria. The nursing care provided to patients with osteosarcoma in the Semeru room at Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital in Malang City is described in this paper. A nurse assessment framework is used for data collecting, and the Face Anxiety Scale is used as a research tool for three days of nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Aromatherapy is administered once daily for 30 minutes, using a diffuser with up to five drops.
Results : According to the study's findings, patients with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) experience less anxiety when lavender aromatherapy is administered. The Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI) provide the basis for writing the results.
Discussion : Another therapeutic option for osteosarcoma (bone cancer) sufferers may be lavender aromatherapy, which lowers anxiety levels. Nonetheless, pharmacological treatment must be used in conjunction with other medical specialists.
