Abstract

Background Hypertension or what is known as high blood pressure is a condition where there is an increase in blood pressure above the normal threshold, namely 120/80 mmHg. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that the number of people suffering from hypertension will continue to increase along with the population growth. In 2025, it is estimated that around 29% of the world's population will suffer from hypertension. to search for information that is relevant to the problem being researched and to examine several basic theories that are relevant to the problem to be researched. The purposes is to explain and identify factors that influence adherence to hypertension treatment. The method used in this research is a literature review (literature study), by collecting 11 international journals from 5 databases, namely: Pubmed, Proquest, Science Direct SAGE Journals and Scopus using bolean (AND / OR). Inclusion criteria for patients have blood pressure more than 140/90 mmHg, exclusion criteria for patients have normal blood pressure or less than 140/90 mmHg. The results of the characteristics of respondents analyzed in 11 international research journals are described with demographic data in the form of gender and regional distribution, namely knowledge about hypertension, awareness, lifestyle, education level, age, family and social support, self-confidence, socio-economic status, anxiety /depression. The conclusion is that it is important for the public to be diligent in carrying out routine checks and taking medication as well as implementing education from health workers about how to get good results in maintaining body health and healing from illnesses suffered.Hypertension treatment adherence factors, Treatmen Adherence
