KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL IBU TIRI DENGAN ANAK SAMBUNG REMAJA PEREMPUAN DALAM MEMBANGUN KEPERCAYAAN (STUDI DEKSRIPTIF PADA EMPAT PASANG IBU DAN ANAK TIRI DI KABUPATEN BOGOR)

This study was motivated by the researcher's interest in the closeness and trust that can be established in the relationship between a stepmother and a teenage female stepdaughter. The relationship between a stepmother and a teenage female stepdaughter is a special and interesting relationship because both of them have a relationship in a family without blood relations. Interpersonal communication between a stepmother and a stepdaughter is very important for their relationship, therefore this study aims to understand how interpersonal communication is established between a stepmother and a teenage female stepdaughter so that it can build trust. This study was conducted in Bogor Regency because it is one of the regencies with high divorce and marriage rates.
The theory used in this study is the theory of interpersonal communication effectiveness according to Joseph A. DeVito, namely that effective interpersonal communication must go through five stages, namely the stages of openness, empathy, support, positive attitude, and equality.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type that allows researchers to obtain more detailed and in-depth information.
The results of this study prove that effective interpersonal communication can make stepmothers build trust in their stepdaughters. There are five elements of interpersonal communication effectiveness according to DeVito's theory in the four pairs of stepmothers and stepdaughters. Starting from the stepmother who started the conversation and started the element of openness so that the stepchildren slowly wanted to open up. The element of openness is the beginning of successful communication because after this other elements will follow.
