Abstract
The aim of the research is to determine the communication patterns and communication networks of Threads users within the Muhammadiyah University of Malang student environment. This research uses a Mix Methods approach with a descriptive type. The subjects of this research are students studying at the Muhammadiyah University of Malang. Data collection techniques used snowball sampling, interviews and documentation, while data analysis used sociometry which was studied through two things, namely triangulation and the UCINET 6.0 application.
The research results show that there is a communication pattern that is formed between each Threads user who has a variety of different backgrounds from each other. This communication pattern is formed based on several factors that influence each subject to ultimately connect with each other, including communication patterns based on intensity (frequency and duration), communication patterns based on motives (entertainment, spending time, and searching for information), and communication patterns based on features (uploads). , comments and likes). Then from these patterns a network is formed between users which produces a star pattern where there is one person who is the star (center) of information between network members. This research also found various roles for each individual which include the role of a bridge between cliques, a connecting role, an isolated role (a person who is almost isolated), and a centralized role (the core of all cliques).
