Abstract
The dynamics surrounding the release of the Dirty Vote documentary have sparked much public debate. This film is enough to cause conflict in the midst of the quiet period towards the 2024 elections. There were various public discussions about the validity of this documentary. This film raises the issue of fraud that occurred during the 2024 election process and is of concern to the public, especially novice voters who belong to Generation Z. Generation Z is one of the groups that dominate the voters in the 2024 elections, reaching 55%. As novice voters, they are still unfamiliar with political issues such as elections. Thus, the presence of the Dirty Vote documentary film helps people, especially first-time voters, to know how the political situation in Indonesia is. The research objective to be achieved is to find out how students' reception of the Dirty Vote documentary film. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The theory used in this research is Stuart Hall's reception analysis. The results obtained from this FGD showed that the five research subjects showed quite diverse message interpretations. The reception analysis divided the research subjects into two positions, hegemonic dominant, where the subjects interpreted the message as political education, and negotiated position, where the subjects interpreted the movie as criticism of the government. Meanwhile, the oppositional position does not appear due to differences in perspective and subject experience.
