Abstract

Code switching is evidence of language use by a bilingual, namely the use of more than one language by a non-speaking bilingual who has a language code that adapts to conditions and situations. Understanding related to code switching is being able to understand the use of language in various situations and conditions. The objectives of this research are (1) To describe the types of code switching used in the Bung Karno grave area. (2) Describe the factors that cause language variations in code switching events in the Bung Karno grave area.
The research in this study was descriptive qualitative. Qualitative research is used to investigate, discover, describe and explain the qualities or features of social influence that cannot be explained, measured or depicted through a quantitative approach (Saryono, 2010). Data processing uses descriptive methods, namely describing the data that is processed until it becomes standard data.
The results of the research show that 1) The type of code switching that occurs in Bung Karno's grave is code switching with the type of internal code switching, 2) the cause of code switching in Bung Karno's grave is that code-switching users adapt the code of their interlocutors so that they can understood by the interlocutor.
