Abstract

Farmers in Ngembal Village, Wajak District, Malang Regency, tend to choose planting during the rainy season due to difficulties in obtaining water during the dry season. However, they face a high risk of damage to chili plants due to excessive humidity, which also increases maintenance costs and creates marketing issues. Additionally, there are problems related to price fluctuations, resulting in differences in profits between farmers and marketing institutions. This affects the marketing margin, leading to a significant gap between the prices received by farmers and those paid by consumers. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the farming practices and efficiency of chili marketing channels in Ngembal Village, Wajak. This study uses a quantitative approach with a total of 21 chili farmer respondents. The analysis techniques used are business feasibility analysis and marketing margin analysis. The results indicate that farmers with land areas of 0.5, 0.8, and 1 hectare in Ngembal are viable for cultivation. Meanwhile, the Farmer's Share for marketing channel I reaches 85.71%, and for channel II, it is 71.25%, indicating that both marketing channels are efficient for farmers.
