Abstract
Background: Low birth weight or low birth weight is a common problem that often occurs in newborns where the baby has a birth weight of <2500g or has nutritional deficiencies that can have an influence on perinatal and neonatal growth and development. The impact of BBLR will affect the baby's organ system that does not function perfectly. The low birth weight problem is still the highest predictor of infant mortality where around 60-80% of neonatal deaths are due to Low Birth Weight Babies (BBLR).
Objective: This study was to provide nutritional management interventions to Mrs. U's baby with low birth weight in her Cut Room Dien RSUD Kanjuruhan Malang Regency.
Method: Writing the final scientific paper ners using a case report research design or case study by looking at medical records, interviews and direct observations. The participants were Mrs. U's baby with low birth weight who was treated at RSUD Kanjuruhan Malang Regency.
Results: After processing the data for 5 consecutive days, the author raised the issue of nursing problems in the form of nutritional deficits related to the inability to absorb nutrients. Researchers provide intervention in the form of nutritional management of breastfeeding for these nursing problems. The results obtained showed an increase in several aspects of nutritional deficit nursing outcomes.
Discussion: Nursing problems Nutritional deficit related to the inability to absorb nutrients occurred in the baby patient Mrs. U with LBW arises due to a decrease in the function of the baby's organ systems due to premature birth. The main action that must be provided by the nurse must be nutritional management, providing breast milk according to the body's needs. Providing adequate nutrition for premature babies is expected to achieve optimal growth and development stages like full-term babies so that an optimal quality of life will be obtained.
Conclusion: The problem of nutritional deficit in LBW cases was resolved because nutritional management intervention was carried out for 5 days and received evaluation, namely increasing nutritional intake, reducing nausea and vomiting, and increasing appetite.
