Abstract
Background: One of the many degenerative diseases that elderly people often experience is musculoskeletal disease, especially joint pain or what is often called osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disease that can affect the function and stability of any load-bearing joint, including kertiligo, joint lining, ligaments and bones, where the main and common symptom felt by sufferers is pain. A treatment that is safe and easy to provide as an effort to reduce the symptoms of pain in osteoarthritis is reflexology/foot massage by massaging certain points on the feet. Method: The design used in this research is qualitative research with a case study approach carried out in Ngamprong Hamlet, Banjarejo Village, Pakis District,
Malang Regency. In this case study, researchers used data collection techniques with participant observation, interviews, and documentation methods (medical records). Results: After routine massage/foot massage therapy in 4 meetings, Mrs. It is said that the pain decreases, so that slowly the patient is able to complete his activities. The patient's family is also able and willing to carry out foot massage regularly and independently according to the patient's needs.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the intervention, it can be concluded that routine application of foot massage can influence the patient's healing process because this intervention has an impact on pain intensity, where after being given and taught foot massage, the patient experiences improvements both in clinical and psychological aspects so that the patient can maintain his health.
