Abstract
International communication is conducted in English. Writing skill are one of four skill required to master English. Writing is seen as a painful practice in Indonesian culture, showing that oral culture is superior top written culture. Thus, it is essential to develop the pupils' writing abilities. This research discusses students' language learning strategies in writing activities. In conducting this research, researcher used survey research. The aim of this research is to determine the analysis of students' vocabulary proficiency based on the average words per sentence in writing at SMPN 13 Malang class IX-B odd semester using a sample of 31 students who must achieve the goal. Researchers used survey research techniques. To collect data, researchers used the Voyant Tools application as a tool to measure their writing average. The results showed that the average student writing score was 16.55. The highest average obtained by students was 18.7 and the lowest average obtained by students was 15.1. With the researcher results above, the objectives of this research were successfully achieved
