Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of household economic instability on the high divorce rate in Bima City. Economic instability can affect various aspects of household life, including relationships between partners. Bima City was chosen as a research location because it has socio-economic characteristics that reflect the dynamics of urban society in Indonesia. This research method uses a qualitative approach with library research techniques equipped with accurate supporting data. Apart from that, in-depth interviews were also conducted to obtain a deeper understanding of the factors that influence divorce based on the respondents' direct experiences.
The results of this research show that there is a significant relationship between household economic instability and the high divorce rate in Bima City. Inability to manage family finances, difficulty in meeting daily economic needs, and financial stress are the main factors that cause household conflict and ultimately affect the stability of marital relationships. These findings provide an important contribution to the understanding of socio-economic dynamics in urban communities, as well as policy implications in supporting family stability.
This research underlines the importance of addressing economic instability as a strategy to reduce the divorce rate in Bima City. The implications of the results of this research can also be applied more broadly in the context of socio-economic policies in Indonesia, to improve family welfare and stability.
