Abstract

Mathematics is a universal science that underlies the development of modern technology, which plays an important role in various disciplines, as well as the development of human thinking. However, in learning, there are still obstacles, such as students who do not understand the material from math lessons. The purpose of this study is to describe student learning difficulties and find out the factors that cause learning difficulties and efforts to overcome these learning difficulties. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach by conducting wawancaras and direct observation at SDN Pandanwangi 3 Malang City. The sample in this study were all third-grade students of SDN Pandanwangi 3 Malang City.
The results of this study can be concluded that the learning difficulties experienced by students are related to understanding the material and calculating fractions. Factors that cause learning difficulties are a lack of memorization of addition and subtraction operations and a lack of understanding of mathematical language. The efforts made to overcome the learning difficulties experienced by students are by conducting remedial activities for students who have not reached the KKM score, providing exercises, and using peer tutors.
