A literary work emerges from the author's drive to express himself as a
human being by utilizing language as a means of communication, as well as
conveying ideas, concepts, and messages that come from his imagination and
socio-cultural reality. The researcher chose the Alaskan Bay novel by Eka
Aryani in this study because the research results describe bullying or what is
known as bullying, romance, and friendship. In general, this research aims to
describe the form and impact of bullying on the main character in the Novel
Teluk Alaska by Eka Aryani.
The author in this research used a qualitative descriptive approach with
data in the form of quotations from dialogue in the novel Teluk Alaska by Eka
Aryani which contains bullying. The method used in this research is
descriptive literary research method. In this research, the author used data
collection techniques in the form of recording character actions, dialogue
between characters, and messages delivered. Data verification in this research
was carried out by comparing information from various sources and
techniques.
Based on research on bullying of the main characters in the novel Alaska
Bay, the following conclusions can be drawn. (1) Physical bullying involves
violence such as kicking and hitting, verbal bullying in the form of teasing and
insults, and psychological bullying such as ignoring and looking at cynically.
(2) The causes of bullying in this novel include family and peer factors, with
families who tolerate violence and peers who have a negative influence. (3)
The impact of bullying on victims is very bad, such as depression, anxiety, and
low self-esteem, as experienced by Anastasya.
