Abstract
Background : Diabetes mellitus is a health problem caused by a disturbance in the
body's metabolism characterised by an increase in blood sugar levels. Diabetes mellitus
is one of the diseases that causes sufferers to take medication continuously or
throughout life. In general, the treatment of this disease will be a great financial
pressure for sufferers, society, and even the country's economy (Nillafita Putri Kusuma,
2023). Research conducted by Yulianti (2020) states that large financial pressures for
people with diabetes mellitus such as medical expenses, and transportation costs are
one of the reasons patients do not take medicine at a certain time or are late in getting
medicine. Therefore, cost-effectiveness analysis needs to be done to determine the
efficiency and cost-effectiveness of drug use. Analysis of the cost effectiveness of oral
antidiabetic treatment was carried out using the ACER (Average Cost Effectiveness
Ratio), and ICER (Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio) parameters.
Objective : This study was conducted to determine the cost effectiveness of treatment
using the most cost effective oral antidiabetes using ACER (Average Cost
Effectiveness Ratio), and ICER (Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio) parameters.
Methods : This research is a non-experimental (observational) research with
descriptive design through retrospective study.Data taken for cost-effectiveness
analysis were data on the effectiveness of oral antidiabetic therapy and direct medical
costs from patient medical records with sampling using purposive sampling technique.
Results and conclusions : The results of the calculation of the cost effectiveness
analysis of oral antidiabetic treatment based on the ACER (Average Cost Effectiveness
Ratio) value show that the most cost effective oral antidiabetic drug is glimepiride with
the smallest ACER value of Rp. 1,682.20.
